New,11commentsAfter spending his entire rookie season on IR, safety DeShon Elliot could step into a large role in 2019. ESTShareTweetShareShareIs Eric Weddle’s replacement already on the roster? Brendan Maloney-USA TODAY SportsGiven the pending free agency of several starters and key role players on defense, such as C.J. Mosley, Za’Darius Smith, and Terrell Suggs, among others, the NFL’s #1 ranked defensive unit could be in for an overhaul this offseason. Ideally, Eric DeCosta will find a way to utilize available cap space to retain these players, along with Michael Pierce and Patrick Onwuasor. There’s also two potential cap causalities in the form of Eric Weddle and Jimmy Smith. However, it’s almost a given that several of these players will not be back. Baltimore will reload in the draft and free agency, but young players already on the roster need to compensate for the loss of production the Ravens figure to endure. One of these young players is DeShon Elliott, whom Ozzie Newsome and the Ravens selected in the sixth-round of last years’ NFL draft. Elliott, a safety out of Texas, suffered a broken forearm in the preseason and missed the entire 2018-19 season. Therefore Justice Hill Baltimore Ravens Jersey , many people forgot that Elliott was billed a draft steal when the Ravens selected him, and for good reason. As we saw in the preseason prior to his unfortunate injury, Elliott possesses serious talent and athleticism. In four games, he recorded seven combined tackles, six of which were solo tackles, and a forced fumble. These stats don’t jump off the page, but Elliott routinely jumped off the screen by showcasing end-to-end speed. Elliott’s twitter feed suggests he has high expectations for this upcoming season, as well. When Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice proclaimed he would win comeback player of the year, Elliott chimed in. Elliot is probably more of a natural strong safety as opposed to a free safety, which is where Tony Jefferson slots on the defense. Barring any unforeseen changes, Jefferson isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, but Elliot has the talent and skills to mold into a free safety and play well there. Weddle’s future in Baltimore is clearly up in the air. If he’s not released this offseason, he figures to play out the remaining season on his contract before retiring. Nevertheless, there will be a hole at the free safety position this upcoming season or the next. It’s possible that the Ravens could look to draft a safety this year, but given they’ve selected Chuck Clark and Elliot in back-to-back drafts Hayden Hurst Jersey 2019 , they will likely look to give either one of them a shot at a starting role this year, should Weddle and Baltimore part ways. Should he enter OTA’s and training camp fully recovered from his forearm injury, Elliot has a good shot to solidify himself as an impact player on the defense. With athleticism, range, and ball skills, Elliot could be in store for a breakout sophomore campaign. Which guards and centers should be at the top of the Ravens radar?"WhitePodcast Film Review Fanposts Fanshots Ravens StoriesScheduleRosterStatsYahoo Ravens ReportYahoo Ravens Depth ChartYahoo Ravens TransactionsYahoo Ravens PhotosAbout Odds Community Guidelines StubHub ✕Ravens NFL draft big board: Interior OL New,8commentsWhich guards and centers should be at the top of the Ravens radar? EDTShareTweetShareShareRavens NFL draft big board: Interior OL Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY SportsWhen it comes to the offensive line, the Ravens are in an interesting spot. Their line was relatively dominant over the second half of last season, however, they were inconsistent early in the season and exposed in the playoff loss to the Chargers. With Ronnie Stanley, Orlando Brown Jr, and Marshal Yanda in the fold, the Ravens have 3/5 penciled in at both tackle spots and right guard. The question becomes, what direction does the team go at left guard and center? If the Ravens want to build a dominant offensive line to bolster the rushing attack, upgrading these interior spots needs to be a priority. There was a time when Alex Lewis appeared to be a long-term option at guard but injuries have hampered his effectiveness. James Hurst is a quality depth guy but struggles at times in a starting role White Hayden Hurst Jersey , as does Matt Skura, who started all 16 games at center last season. Bradley Bozeman showed promise his rookie season and could potentially be in-line for a shot at a starting spot next season. The Ravens could potentially use their 22nd overall selection to draft an offensive lineman or wait until the middle rounds to see who slips into their range. Here are the top guys they should be looking at. 1) Cody Ford (G), Oklahoma Oklahoma’s offensive line was nothing short of dominant last season and Cody Ford, the best player of the group, was a big reason why. Pairing him up with his former teammate, Orlando Brown Jr, makes a lot of sense. Ford is the best guard prospect in this draft, although some see him as more of a tackle, and should he slip to the 22nd pick, he could step in as a plug-and-play starter for the Ravens. 2) Garrett Bradbury (C), North Carolina St. After a strong showing at the scouting combine, Garrett Bradbury’s draft stock has been on the rise in recent months. Bradbury is a natural center and the top of his class in this draft. He won the Rimington trophy last season, an award given to the nation’s top center. Bradbury is an above-average athlete, possesses good discipline and technique, and has a high motor. Immediate upgrade over Skura and other incumbent center options. 3) Chris Lindstrom Justin Tucker Jersey 2019 , Boston College Questions over his potential schematic fit exist here, but there’s no denying the talent of Chris Lindstrom. Capable of playing three positions on the offensive line, Lindstrom is at his best at the guard position, where he utilizes his athleticism and scrappiness to win battles in the trenches. Lindstrom thrives in space and has several years of starting experience under his belt. 4) Erik McCoy (C/G) Mocked to the Ravens by Mel Kiper a few weeks ago, it’s unclear exactly what range Erik McCoy will find himself in the draft. However, he’s widely-regarded as the best center prospect after Bradbury, and can also hold his own at guard. The Ravens covet versatility on the offensive line, making McCoy a great option if they miss out on the top guys. 5) Elgton Jenkins (C/G), Mississippi St.Much like Lindstrom, Elgton Jenkins is versatile. However, he has more experience playing center than guard, as he started 25 games at that spot over the past two seasons. Jenkins struggles at times with inconsistencies in his technique, but he has the frame and tools to be successful in the pros. Jenkins is potentially a good target in the third round. Notable exclusions: Connor McGovern, Ben Powers What are your thoughts on these interior offensive line prospects and which guys would you like to see the Ravens draft?
