A camera-based system costs about 500,000 euros ($683,000). Bayern now wants the technology to be installed only in the first division to "better protect our football and referees above all." Only half of the 18 first-division teams supported the technology in March. Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said it was unacceptable for the referees to be "dragged through dirt publicly" even though they had no technology at their disposal.
